Philips Evnia 49M2C8900 with 49″ Ultrawide QD-OLED Panel and 240Hz Refresh Rate
Philips have announced today their new 49M2C8900 display, a massive 49″ super ultrawide screen with a 5120x 1440 resolution and a 240Hz Refresh rate. It’s a competing model to Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G95SC which we reviewed recently, based on the same Samsung QD-OLED panel.
Philips Evnia 49M2C8900 Specs
The screen has a 32:9 aspect ratio and with its 5120 x 1440 resolution, it’s the equivalent of dual 1440p monitors in desktop space. The screen has a fairly subtle 1800R curvature as well. There is a high 240Hz refresh rate, supported by adaptive-sync for VRR from compatible AMD and NVIDIA systems. The screen also includes certification under the VESA ClearMR (Clear Motion Ratio) 13000 tier although seemingly not under AMD’s or NVIDIA’s certification schemes according to the press release.
There is a usual 0.03ms G2G response time spec thanks to the OLED panel. Philips mention a 1000 nits peak brightness for a 3% window, and 450 nits for a 10% window. The screen does meet the VESA ‘DisplayHDR 400 True Black’ tier though for OLED panels. For SDR work it looks like the screen will be capable of 250 nits brightness for a 100% APL.
There is a 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99% DCI-P3, equivalent to 153.1% sRGB and 125.2% Adobe RGB which provides good support for different workflows. The screen also offers a factory calibrated sRGB mode with dE <2 listed.
Connections and features
For connectivity there is 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (With DSC), 2x HDMI 2.1 (console capabilities not listed) and 1x USB type-C (With DP Alt mode and 90W power delivery). There are also 4x USB data ports and an audio output connection.
The screen also includes built-in speakers supporting DTS Sound with 30 W output (4x 7.5W) for exceptional and immersive audio, and the exclusive Ambiglow feature to add to the all-around alluring experience. Additional features such as the MultiClient Integrated KVM switch, VESA mount option, Compact Ergo Base (a height-adjustable ergonomic stand), and LowBlue mode are added to this monitor’s arsenal for everyday use. The stand supports tilt, height and swivel adjustments.
Pricing and Availability
The Philips Evnia 49M2C8900 monitor will be available for purchase as of mid-September at an MSRP of £1649.99 in the UK
