Image shown is the smaller 43″ 439P9H model but we expect design to be similar from this new 49″ model

Philips are set to release a new 49″ ultrawide screen later this year. We don’t have a massive amount of information about it at this time, but we do know that the 498P9 is expected to be available around June time. It’s a 49″ ultrawide display with a 32:9 aspect ratio, a 1800R curvature and a 5120 x 1440 resolution. This is the same as dual 27″ 2560 x 1440 screens size by side.

The 498P9 features a VA technology panel and like the smaller 43″ 439P9H it is aimed primarily at office and business users looking for improved convenience and productivity. It will include features like an ergonomic base and stand with tilt, height and swivel adjustments, a built-in KVM switch and Picture by Picture.

Spec wise the screen is expected to offer a 5ms G2G response time, 70Hz refresh rate but include adaptive-sync for VRR. There is also a 450 cd/m2 brightness spec listed, and we would expect a 3000:1 contrast ratio given the use of the VA panel. DisplayPort 1.2 and 2x HDMI 2.0 connections are listed along with a headphone out and 4x USB ports.

The 498P9 is expected to be released around June time. More info on pricing and specs when we get them.

Update 4/8/20 – The Philips 498P9 monitor is expected to be available soon during August 2020 with an MSRP of £749.
