Dell have today announced several new monitors in their Gaming line-up (not part of the Alienware brand though). The models come in various sizes and resolutions but the focus is very much on high refresh rates and VRR support. There is a 24.5″ 1080p IPS model (S2522HG) with 240Hz, along with 27″ (S2722DGM) and 32″ (S3222DGM) curved VA models with 1440p and 165Hz, and then finally a 34″ ultrawide curved model (S3422DWG) with 3440 x 1440 and 144Hz. More details below.

24.5″ S2522HG

Also referred to more simply as the “Dell 25 Gaming Monitor”, this model offers a 24.5″ sized Fast IPS panel with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 3-side borderless design. It has a 1ms G2G response time and a 240Hz refresh rate. This is supported then by adaptive sync for VRR from both AMD (FreeSync Premium certified) and NVIDIA (G-sync Compatible certified) systems. There is also a 99% standard sRGB gamut confirmed.

A new down light creates ambient illumination for gaming in low-light environments. Three user-defined profiles allow for even more personalisation options. Timer, FPS Counter, and Dark Stabilizer let the user manage everything from frame rates to brightness to shadow control. The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.

The S2522HG is expected to be available in China beginning on May 7; in the rest of the world on May 27. Pricing TBC.

27″ S2722DGM

This model has a 27″ curved VA panel with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. It has a 165Hz refresh rate. This is supported then by adaptive sync for VRR from both AMD (FreeSync Premium certified) and NVIDIA (no certification listed) systems. Further specs and info are pending.

32″ S3222DGM

Basically the big brother of the 27″ model above. This model has a 32″ curved VA panel with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. It has a 165Hz refresh rate. This is supported then by adaptive sync for VRR from both AMD (FreeSync Premium certified) and NVIDIA (no certification listed) systems.

34″ S3422DWG

This model has a 34″ curved ultrawide VA panel with a 3440 x 1440 resolution. It has a 144Hz refresh rate. This is supported then by adaptive sync for VRR from both AMD (FreeSync Premium certified) and NVIDIA (no certification listed) systems. This model also has a wide colour gamut covering 90% of the DCI-P3 gamut, and carries the lowly VESA Display HDR 400 certification.

During the Dell press event “VRR for console gaming” was mentioned, but it is not clear whether they mean HDMI 2.1 will be featured, or whether this is just FreeSync over HDMI 2.0. We suspect the latter but are seeking clarification from Dell.

Further info on specs, pricing and availability when we get it.
