LG Unveil the UltraGear 25G950B, The World’s First 1000Hz Refresh Rate 1080p Gaming Monitor

LG Electronics have announced today the launch of their new UltraGear 25G950B, the World’s first native 1000Hz refresh rate gaming monitor with a 1080p / FHD resolution. We’ve seen various 1000Hz+-capable monitors announced this year already, but until now those have all supported 1000Hz+ operation only when using a dual-mode function and dropping the resolution significantly from the native 2560 x 1440 mode to a lowly 1280 x 720. So while the 1000Hz+ is impressive on paper, or perhaps interesting as a proof of concept, it fits only a very niche gaming use-case at a very low resolution in those instances.
The 25G950B is a little different as it offers a native 1920 x 1080 resolution, and the 1000Hz refresh rate can be used at this native resolution as well. This makes it arguably a lot more suited to competitive and esports gamers who often game at 1080p still, but are looking for higher refresh rates for improved motion clarity and frame rate support.
LG UltraGear 25G950B specs
Engineered specifically for first-person shooter (FPS) games, the 25G590B is 24.5″ in size and built around an IPS-type technology panel. It offers a 1920 x 1080 resolution and 1000Hz refresh rate but other specs are not listed at this time. As we’ve said in the past, we remain sceptical about how an IPS panel might perform for these kind of refresh rates given the response time challenges for this technology.
The new monitor further enhances visual precision with Motion Blur Reduction Pro – an LG technology that makes fast-moving objects sharper and easier to track via a motion blur reduction backlight option. The screen will also feature a “low-reflection film” (aka an anti-glare coating).
This optimized screen size and design are widely used in esports as it allows gamers to keep key visual elements within their natural field of view, supporting quick situational awareness without the need for excessive eye movement.
The monitor also has a sleek, minimalist stand that pairs an ultra-clean gaming aesthetic with space-saving functionality. The stand’s minimal base footprint helps maximize desktop real estate, granting players an unhindered range of mouse motion. Calibration indicators on the stand allow users to precisely adjust height, swivel and tilt settings, making it easier to replicate preferred configurations across practice and competition setups. Additional features include the ‘UltraGear Emblem’ RGB lighting, which provides customizable ambient illumination.
AI-Powered Features for More Immersive, Focused Gameplay
The 25G590B incorporates on-device gaming AI features designed to boost both immersion and usability. AI Scene Optimization adds visual realism and depth by intelligently adjusting picture settings according to game genre, while AI Sound provides a more authentic spatial audio experience along with clearer in-game communications when used with compatible headsets.
Pricing and availability
LG UltraGear 25G590B is expected to launch in select markets in the second half of 2026, with availability in additional markets to follow throughout the year. No details on pricing yet.
