HP OMEN 27qs G2 Announced with a 280Hz Refresh Rate IPS Black Panel

Higher refresh rate IPS Black panels are finally here! HP have unveiled this week their new OMEN 27qs G2 monitor, a 27″ sized screen with a 280Hz refresh rate IPS Black panel. This panel offers a 2000:1 contrast ratio, double that of traditional IPS panels, while still being able to offer a high refresh rate for gamers. Previously IPS Black monitors have largely been restricted to 60Hz, some offering 120Hz. The panel offers a 2560 x 1440 resolution and variable refresh rate support, including certification under the NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’, AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ and the VESA ‘AdaptiveSync’ schemes (there really are too many of these now).

Other specs provided at this time include a 1ms G2G response time and a wide colour gamut covering 95% DCI-P3 and 99% sRGB. For connectivity there are 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 2x HDMI 2.0, 2x USB data ports and a headphone jack provided. The stand offers tilt, height and pivot adjustments and there’s also some simple 2x 3W integrated speakers.
The OMEN 27qs G2 is expected to be released in June 2025 at a price of $450 USD.
