Dell are set to release a new 31.5″ sized model in their popular UltraSharp range of monitors. The U3219Q has a 3840 x 2160 Ultra HD resolution IPS-type panel and offers a 3-side borderless design, being aimed at general all round work.Spec wise the screen offers a 5ms G2G response time, 60Hz refresh rate, 1300:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 10-bit colour depth, 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage and 178/178 viewing angles.

Despite the VESA Display HDR 400 certification, like most screens using this very loose spec, there’s no ‘real’ HDR support here beyond the extended colour space that the backlight offers and the support for 10-bit colour depth. There’s no effective local dimming to improve the dynamic range or peak brightness beyond a fairly typical and standard 400 cd/m2.

The screen has a factory calibration with dE <2 provided, and there is a flicker free backlight used along with various Low Blue light settings. Connections are provided for DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 2.0, USB 3 type-C, audio output and 4x USB 3.0 downstream ports. 2 of these USB ports have fast charging capabilities too with one normal and one fast charging being presented on the side of the screen for easy access. A full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments are offered from the stand. Picture In Picture and Picture By Picture (PiP / PbP) are also supported.

The screen is expected to be available during Q4 at a retail price of $1099 USD.
