BenQ ZOWIE XL2566X+ Announced with 400Hz TN Film Panel and DyAc 2

BenQ have recently announced the release of their new ZOWIE XL2566X+ gaming monitor, the successor to the highly acclaimed XL2566K, the official monitor for major international competitions. The XL2566X+ marks the debut of the X+ series, incorporating new Fast TN panel technology with a very high 400Hz refresh rate and faster response times. This is an update to the previous 360Hz available from the XL2566K. This new model also features the latest BenQ DyAc 2 technology, ensuring exceptional dynamic image clarity.
Designed for competitive gamers
As the BenQ press release says: “Since the introduction of XL Series monitors in 2010, ZOWIE has continuously upgraded its technology for clearer visuals, improved software control for convenient setting optimisation, and enhanced user experience. The goal is to deliver features and designs that directly benefit players in competitive gaming, avoiding unnecessarily flashy designs that do not contribute to competitiveness.”
BenQ ZOWIE XL2566X+ Specs

The new screen is 24″ in size and offers a 1920 x 1080 resolution (FHD) panel. BenQ say that this resolution is more suited to competitive gamers, saying that “at the preferred resolutions for FPS players (1280×960 for CS2 and 1920×1080 for VALORANT), TN’s FHD delivers sharper images compared to QHD on other panels. A TN panel is the best choice for FPS players.”
In other specs there is a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 320 nits brightness, 170/160 viewing angles. Specs for colour are oddly not provided on the BenQ spec page, but we assume a standard sRGB colour gamut here given the TN Film panel.
The high 400Hz refresh rate is backed by VRR support from compatible systems. BenQ state that the TN Film panel used here has been improved for responsiveness, including a reduction in overshoot compared with older panels.
For connectivity there are 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 3x HDMI 2.0 connections provided, along with a headphone jack. The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments. A shading hood and S-switch accessory are provided with the screen too.
Latest Dynamic Accuracy Technology (DyAc 2)
XL2566X+ also comes with the latest DyAc 2 technology, ZOWIE’s dynamic accuracy mechanism for best-in-class motion clarity and superior overall visual experiences. This activates a strobing blur reduction backlight system for impriving motion clarity in games. DyAc 2 is a significant upgrade to DyAc/ DyAc⁺, now utilising dual backlights with greater precision control to achieve a higher level of motion blur reduction and ghosting minimisation together with softened light output to facilitate eye adaptation.

Pricing and Availability
The new XL2566X+ will be available for pre-order starting from 15th August 2024. We’ve not seen any confirmation of pricing yet.
