AOC have just announced two new 27” gaming displays from its new G2 line-up with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels): the Q27G2U and the curved CQ27G2U, the latter of which increases the immersion with an aggressive curvature of 1500R. Both models feature VA technology panels combined with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 1ms MPRT response time and support for adaptive-sync for variable refresh rates from both AMD and NVIDIA systems.

In other specs the new screens offer a 3000:1 static contrast ratio thanks to the VA panel technology along with a wide colour gamut covering 120% sRGB and 90% Adobe RGB. There is a 250 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles and 8-bit colour depth spec as well.

The 1ms MPRT spec is made possible through the use of an added motion blur reduction backlight option.

Both the CQ27G2U and Q27G2U are equipped with the G2 series’ elegant and practical stand, flavoured with striking red accents to underline their gaming heritage. The stand offers 130 mm height adjustment in addition to tilt, swivel and rotate (even on the curved model). A built-in USB 3.0 hub with four ports (one with quick charging) enables users to connect their keyboard, mouse, webcam, or simply any USB peripherals, but also to charge their smartphone or other devices. The screen also features integrated 2x 2W stereo speakers.

For video connections there are 1x DisplayPort 1.2 and 2x HDMI 2.0 ports offered on the curved model. The flat model (oddly) has 1x DisplayPort 1.2 but 2x HDMI 1.4 instead of the newer v2.0. There are also audio input and headphone output connections provided.

AOC’s Q27G2U (flat) will be available in January at an RRP of £279 and the CQ27G2U (curved) will be available in February at an RRP of £289. They are already listed on Amazon.de in Germany at 313.73 Euro (curved model) and 367.47 Euro (flat model). The curved model has a release date of 28th Feb listed while the flat model just says 1 – 2 months.
