Acer to Issue Firmware Update to Address Predator X35 Flickering Issue

Following in the footsteps of Asus who recently announced an optional firmware update for their Asus ROG Swift PG35VQ, Acer have also now announced one for their Predator X35 display. This is an optional firmware update to address those who have reported issues with flickering in certain situations. Pcmonitors.info described this as “obvious flickering and strong interlace pattern artifacts (thick ‘dancing lines’ with textures breaking up into a heavily interlaced pattern) when certain textures or shades are displayed in some games“

Acer have also now acknowledged the issue and plan to release a firmware update by the end of the year to fix it.

The Acer FAQ support page states for the X35 that:

The Acer Predator X35 may occasionally flicker or show vertical lines while displaying graphics from certain games. The issue is caused by LCD panel sensitivity to certain color patterns. Acer has resolved this issue in a firmware update that will be available for download before the end of December 2019. We will update this article once the new firmware is available.

Acer Predator X35 monitors with serial numbers where the 11th-13th characters are <950 are eligible for this update. You can see an example of an impacted serial number below.
