Acer Predator X32 Finally Being Launched with 32″ IPS Panel, 4K Resolution, 144Hz and G-sync Ultimate
Originally published 6 January 2020, last updated 5 January 2022
It was exactly 2 years ago at CES 2020 that Acer announced their 32″ Predator X32 display featuring a very high end spec and cutting edge technology. At this year’s CES 2022 event, we’ve finally seen firmer information about its specs, release date and pricing. There’s been several changes all detailed below.
NVIDIA G-sync Ultimate and Reflex Latency Analyzer
The X32 offers a 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution IPS-type panel and 160Hz refresh rate which is updated from the 144Hz announced 2 year’s ago, and is supported by NVIDIA G-sync Ultimate with a Native G-sync hardware module for variable refresh rates. Acer have also now added NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer which was not originally discussed 2 years ago, allowing you to easily track system and display latency and performance.
DisplayHDR 1000 Certification
The screen uses a Mini LED backlight with 576 local dimming zones for high end HDR capability. This allows it to support the VESA DisplayHDR 1000 standard as well with a reach peak brightness of 1000 nits. There is also 10-bit colour depth support, and a wide colour gamut with 99% Adobe RGB coverage quoted. Note that the original CES 2020 press release 2 years ago talked about a 1152 zone Mini LED backlight and HDR 1400 certification, so it looks like Acer have opted to use one of AUO’s newer panels, where the number of zones and the peak brightness has been reduced. The refresh rate is a bit higher though on these new panels, offering 160Hz now instead of 144Hz that was announced 2 year’s ago.
X32 Other Specs and Features
The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments. There are 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 3x HDMI 2.0 connections offered along with 4x USB 3.0. It will support Display Stream Compression (DSC) to deliver 144Hz 4K without colour sacrifice. HDMI 2.1 is not mentioned when discussing the X32 in the latest CES 2022 press release. The screen also includes 2x 4W stereo speakers. The screen also comes factory calibrated with dE <2.
After many many delays, according to the CES 2022 press release the Predator X32 gaming monitor will be available in North America in Q3 2022 starting at USD 1,999; in EMEA in Q3 2022 starting at EUR 1,899. This is positive news as 2 year’s ago the rumoured price was around $3400 USD and so the changes Acer have made, probably mostly down to the change in the Mini LED backlight/panel have helped keep the cost down further.
