Acer have today announced the forthcoming launch of their new Predator X28 display. This is a 28″ sized screen with a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution IPS panel, combined with an overclocked 155Hz refresh rate and Native NVIDIA G-sync. It also includes NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer as well and a range of other modern Acer gaming extras.

Spec wise the 28″ sized screen has an IPS technology panel, 3840 x 2160 resolution, 1ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 178/178 viewing angles and 10-bit colour depth support. While not listed in the Acer press release, the Chinese retailer Taobao have a product page up for this screen which lists a 99% sRGB and 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut

The 155Hz refresh rate is overclocked slightly from the native 144Hz as far as we know. With the screen featuring a Native G-sync module it will support VRR from NVIDIA systems, and it is not clear at this stage whether FreeSync will also be supported although the product page at Chinese retailer Taobao suggests it will be (likely just over DisplayPort).

The Predator X28 also includes the NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer, a revolutionary system latency measurement tool that detects clicks coming from the mouse and then measures the time it takes for the resulting pixels (i.e., a gun muzzle flash) to change on screen. This can help you measure your actual end to end latency, allowing you to then optimise settings and options and confirm that things are behaving as you expect them to.

Acer LightSense, ColorSense and ProxiSense ensure that the monitor always look as good as possible, in any lighting. To offer a more comfortable viewing experience, BlueLightShield Pro manages high-energy wave lengths in order to selectively filter out blue light emissions while maintaining Delta E<1 color accuracy. The Predator X28 is a TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe®-certified gaming monitor.

The screen should feature 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.0 port (limited to v2.0 because of the G-sync module). The stand is expected to offer tilt, height, swivel and rotate functions. There are also apparently 2x 2W integrated speakers and an audio out connection.

The Predator X28 will be available will be available in North America in August starting at USD 1,299.99; in EMEA in August starting at EUR 1,199.
