Samsung Odyssey G80HF Officially Enters the 5K Dual-Mode Market With Full Details Now Available
We originally brought you information about Samsung’s 5K Dual-Mode display at the end of last year, and it was displayed at CES in January, and we have been eagerly waiting for an official product page to appear on Samsung’s website. We are pleased to confirm that the wait is now over and we can finally bring you further details about this interesting new screen.
The Samsung Odyssey G80HF is a 27” sized ‘Fast IPS’ LCD screen with a 5120 x 2880 “5K” resolution. It’s native 180Hz refresh rate can be doubled to 360Hz when dropping to a lower, but still very decent 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution using a dual-mode function.
This is just one of a long line of 5K dual-mode screens that have been launched this year offering both high refresh rates and amazing visuals allowing you the versality to switch between productivity work and fast-paced gaming scenarios.
Samsung Odyssey G80HF Specs
The screen is 27” in size with a flat format and is built around a ‘Fast IPS’ LCD technology panel. In other specs it features a 5120 x 2880 “5K” resolution, ‘Retina class’ 218 PPI pixel density, 1ms G2G response time spec, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles and a 10-bit colour depth offering 1 billion colours.
The 180 / 360Hz refresh rates is supported by adaptive-sync for VRR from compatible systems and is supported with AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ and NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ schemes. Other gaming features you can expect to see are Black Equaliser, Virtual Aim Point, Core Sync, LED Lighting and Super Arena Gaming UX. HDR10 and HDR10+ Gaming content will also be supported although there’s no real HDR capabilities of note – no Mini LED backlight for instance.
The stand provides a full range of tilt, height swivel and rotate adjustments and the panel includes Flicker-Free and Eye Saver Mode technologies. It also utilises Samsung’s Auto Source Switch+ feature to automatically connect to new devices without manually having to flip through input sources.
Connectivity
Connectivity options include 2x HDMI 2.1, 1x DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20), a 2-port USB hub 3.2 and a headphone jack.
