A new model in Acer’s Nitro gaming line-up has appeared on Chinese shopping website Taobao (with further information provided later on by Acer). The Acer Nitro XV282K KV is a 28″ sized screen featuring a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution and high refresh rate of 144Hz. Variable refresh rates from both AMD and NVIDIA systems are supported through the use of adaptive-sync (AMD FreeSync Premium certification included). It will also include HDMI 2.1 support for the latest generation Sony PS5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X games consoles allowing for 4K at 120Hz and with VRR (where supported).

The 28″ screen features an IPS-type panel offering a 3840 x 2160 resolution, 0.5ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth and 90% DCI-P3 wide colour gamut.

The screen was originally expected to feature HDR600 support based on the early Taobao product listing, but the Acer official press release lists HDR400 only. A VRB (Visual Response Boost) strobe backlight setting is included for improving motion clarity in gaming.

The screen also includes Acer VisionCare 3.0, which incorporates several technological innovations to help reduce eye strain experienced by heavy users such as programmers, writers and graphic designers. These technologies include LightSense, ColorSense, ProxiSense and BluelightShield Pro. The monitor has also achieved TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe certification also. Tilt and height adjustments are offered from the stand. For connectivity there are 2x HDMI 2.1 ports provided, along with DP 1.4 (with DSC support), 4x USB 3.0 ports and an audio output. HDMI 2.1 is a vital component to support these new games consoles including offering support for 4K @ 120Hz, and variable refresh rates (VRR) as well. From the official Acer press release later on we are told that the Nitro XV282K KV monitor will be available in North America in May starting at USD $899.99; in EMEA in May starting at EUR 949.00 and GBP £899.
